Short ABC Trek is one of the most popular treks in Nepal, and for good reason. This trek offers a unique combination of natural beauty, cultural diversity, and adventure that is hard to find elsewhere. The Annapurna region is home to some of the most spectacular mountain landscapes in the world, and the Short ABC Trek allows you to experience these mountains up close and personal.
As you trek higher, the landscape becomes more rugged and the views of the mountains become more spectacular. Along the way, you will pass through several traditional villages such as Ghandruk, Chomrong, and Dovan, which offer a glimpse into the local culture and way of life. These villages also serve as great places to rest, replenish supplies, and spend the night. One of the highlights of the Short ABC Trek is the stunning views of the Annapurna range. You will have the opportunity to see some of the most famous mountains in the world, including Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Gangapurna, and of course, the majestic Annapurna itself. The Annapurna base camp, located at an altitude of 4,130 meters, offers panoramic views of the entire Annapurna range and is the perfect place to enjoy the beauty of the mountains and take some unforgettable photos.
The short ABC Trek is a challenging but rewarding experience that requires a good level of fitness and preparation. It is important to note that altitude sickness can be a concern, so it is essential to take the necessary precautions and acclimatize properly. The best time for booking a short ABC Trek is from September to November and March to May, as the weather is the most stable during these months.
Starting with a domestic flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara, the Short ABC Trek Itinerary begins. After that, you will take a private vehicle from Pokhara to Siwai, where the trip begins. The route to Chomrong from Siwai will take you via lush rhododendron and bamboo woods, breathtaking terraced farms, and suspension bridges. Views of the Machhapuchre and Annapurna massifs are available as you go to Chomrong. The next day, you will depart Chomrong and go to Dovan. Now, as your road continues through more rhododendrons and bamboo trees, you will see that it is gradually ascending.
Your Short ABC Trek route will leave Dovan on the fourth day and go toward Deurali through Modi Khola, the Himalayas, and Hinku Cave. The most interesting day of your Short ABC Trek Itinerary will be Day 5, as you will get the opportunity to visit two Base Camps. After passing Machhapuchhre Base Camp, proceed through Modi Khola Glacier Valley in the direction of Annapurna Base Camp. You may obtain stunning views of Hiunchuli, the Annapurna ranges, including Annapurna I, Khangsar Kang, Gangapurna, and Machhapuchhre, from Annapurna Base Camp. You will spend the night at Annapurna Base Camp.

You will depart Sinuwa and go to Jhinu Danda the next morning. When you get to Jhinu Danda, you may unwind in the local natural hot springs. Once you have had a wonderful time in Jhinu Dada, your short ABC Trek will lead you to Siwai, from where you may drive to Pokhara. Yes, you definitely require trekking permits and they are:
You may rely on Green Valley Nepal Treks to assist you with all the documentation required to obtain these permits.
Here are a few tips from our experienced guides to avoid altitude sickness;
Yes, it is highly recommended that you have travel insurance when participating in the Annapurna Base Camp Short Trek. The trek takes place in a remote region with limited access to medical facilities, so it is important to have insurance in case of an emergency. Additionally, the trek involves some challenging conditions and there is always a risk of accidents or illnesses, so it's a good idea to have insurance to protect yourself financially.
You must make reservations for this walk in the spring (March, April, and May) and autumn seasons (September, October, and November) in order to complete this trek without extra trouble such as snow and slippery road. These months include bright skies, a variety of flowers in bloom, and lush rainforest. If you are lucky, you could come across a variety of wild animals
Yes, trekkers will get Wi-Fi at several guesthouses for a nominal fee. In lower hills, it could function properly, but in the mountains, the connection might not be reliable, making it difficult for hikers to use the internet anytime they need to.
Yes, all guesthouses and lodges will have charging stations, however occasionally there may be load shedding issues, so it's best to have a power bank or extra batteries.
One option for getting water is to purchase mineral water bottles from stores located along the paths. Another way to purify tap or stream water before drinking is by bringing reusable water bottles and other types of water purification agents with you. The teahouses and the numerous streams and rivers along the path also offer the opportunity to replenish water bottles. We suggest drinking boiling water when you are at your lodge. Those who insist on exclusively drinking mineral water should be prepared to spend a little bit more money because the cost of bottled water increases as you move higher up.
It is possible to take a hot shower that is prepared by gas; these showers are referred to as gas showers or bucket showers. Due to the extreme cold, we normally wouldn't choose to take showers over 4000 meters
You will be staying in Teahouses because there aren't many hotels in the mountains, especially the higher you go. As a result, your accommodation may be anything from a private single or double room to a bed in a communal. The lodging is quite minimal, and you usually share shower and restroom facilities with other hikers. Every teahouse offers a communal eating area with a wide selection of regional and western cuisine, as well as hot beverages like coffee and any type of tea found in the highlands.
There are no issues at all for vegetarians because lodges often provide vegetarian meals. Additionally, in order to prevent food poisoning, we constantly advise our clients to consume vegetarian meals. High altitude meals that are not vegetarian are unsafe for the stomach.
