Overview
Langtang Gosaikunda Lake Trek – 15 Days
The Langtang Gosaikunda Lake Trek combines the mountain scenery and Tamang culture of Langtang Valley with the sacred alpine lakes of Gosaikunda. Over 15 days, you’ll walk through forested trails, traditional villages and high mountain landscapes, with views of the Langtang range along the way.
Your journey begins with a drive from Kathmandu through Trishuli Bazaar and Dhunche to Syabrubesi. From there, the trail follows the Langtang River through bamboo, pine and rhododendron forests to Lama Hotel. Continue to Langtang Village and then Kyanjin Gompa, a scenic settlement surrounded by Himalayan peaks.
You’ll spend time at Kyanjin Gompa to rest and acclimatize. Depending on your fitness and the conditions, you can take optional hikes to Kyanjin Ri or Tserko Ri, visit the local yak cheese factory, or explore the village and its monastery.
After returning to Lama Hotel, the route continues through Thulo Syabru and Shin Gompa to Gosaikunda Lake, a revered pilgrimage destination for Hindu and Buddhist visitors. The trail then crosses Laurebina La Pass and descends to Ghopte, entering the peaceful Helambu region. From there, continue through Kutumsang and Pati Bhanjyang to Chisapani, before hiking to Sundarijal and driving back to Kathmandu.
Is the Langtang Gosaikunda Trek right for you?
This is a moderate-to-challenging trek with long walking days and significant altitude gain. It does not require technical climbing, but good fitness, a gradual pace and proper acclimatization are important. Previous trekking experience can help, especially at higher elevations.
